HunterIVF host 11th Annual Family Day

On Sunday November 3, Hunter IVF hosted its 11th annual Family Day at the Lambton Heights Clinic.

The event was a chance for families who have undergone IVF or other fertility treatment to come together with clinical staff and community members to share their stories.

Dr Andrew Hedges, Medical Director of Hunter IVF said, “There is a real sense of community in the Hunter IVF family. We’re seeing ‘IVF families’ come back year after year with their second, third and sometimes fourth children”.

The Family Day provides additional support for couples and families currently undergoing IVF treatment, by linking them with families with similar experiences.

In Australia one in six couples will experience some sort of difficulty when trying to start a family.

Through the use of advanced reproductive technology, the experienced Fertility Specialists at Hunter IVF help create around 200 babies a year in the Hunter region - that’s a new baby every second day.

“Over the last 10 years there has been significant improvement in the overall acceptance of IVF in the community. This means couples, either heterosexual or same sex, have one less thing to worry about during what can be a very emotional and challenging time. We are also caring for an increasing number of single women who access donor sperm to create their families”.

Hunter IVF offers extensive clinical support to families through counseling, information sessions and support groups and highly successful lifestyle programs.

The event took place from 9am – 11am. Face painting, balloon sculpting and a jumping castle were some of the activities for kids and adults provided on the day.
